Who We Are
RERWA is a human development institution.
RERWA is a human development institution that builds the capacity individuals and organizations need to live meaningful lives and create lasting impact — through character formation, leadership development, strategic advisory, coaching, retreats, and research. These are not separate lines of work; they are complementary pathways through which we cultivate intentional formation.
Our Vision
Principled People. Meaningful Lives.
We envision a future where people at every stage of life and leadership live with integrity, steward their gifts faithfully, and contribute meaningfully to the flourishing of their organizations, communities, and society.
Our Mission
Build the capacity for meaningful lives and lasting impact.
To build the capacity that enables people and institutions to live meaningful lives and create lasting impact.
Our Purpose
Nurture lifelong formation.
RERWA exists to nurture the lifelong formation of people and institutions, equipping them with the character, clarity, leadership, and capabilities required to build lives of meaning and create lasting impact.
Our Story
It began with a realization that something wasn't adding up.
Through lived experience, observation, and conversations with people from every walk of life, the idea behind RERWA began to take shape.
People are becoming more educated, more connected, and more ambitious. Yet too often, success fails to translate into fulfillment, and potential doesn't necessarily translate into meaningful contribution.
Some pursue recognition but lack conviction. Others possess extraordinary potential but little direction. Organizations achieve growth while gradually drifting away from the very purpose they were created to fulfill.
At first, these seem like different challenges. Over time, however, they reveal the same underlying question:
What enables people and institutions not just to succeed, but to become the kind that create lasting impact?
That question became the beginning of RERWA.
What was missing wasn't talent, ambition, or opportunity. It was intentional formation.
The challenge isn't simply a lack of knowledge or resources. It is a gap in intentional formation — the kind of formation that shapes character before influence, conviction before recognition, and leadership before achievement.
Because potential alone is never enough. Without intentional formation, even extraordinary potential can struggle to become meaningful impact.
Why RERWA?
In Kinyarwanda, “Rerwa” means “be raised” — the imperative form of Kurera: to raise, nurture, mentor, develop, guide, and prepare someone to become their best self.
For many people, the word immediately brings to mind children and parenting. That reaction is understandable — and intentional.
We believe being raised is not something that ends in childhood. Every stage of life presents an opportunity to continue growing in character, wisdom, leadership, and conviction. In that sense, RERWA is an invitation — an invitation to lifelong formation.
Just as the compass in our logo continually points toward true north, we believe every person needs an inner compass that keeps them grounded while navigating life's opportunities and complexities. Growth is not simply about moving forward; it is about continually returning to the principles, values, and convictions that keep us oriented toward lives of meaning and lasting impact.
Building Lives of Meaning and Lasting Impact
RERWA works with individuals and organizations to build the capacity that builds and sustains lives of meaning and lasting impact.
Whether we are helping a student build strong foundations, supporting a leader through complexity, or strengthening an organization's culture and systems, our work is rooted in one enduring belief:
Meaningful lives and lasting impact are never accidental. They are built through intentional formation, faithful stewardship, and consistent growth over time.
That is the future we are committed to building.
